What is Oil Empire?

Oil Empire is an economic simulation based on the valuable raw material oil. With strategic skill in the extraction, processing and competition for this scarce resource, the player can build his empire.

The online game was released in Germany in April 2007 by 4Players, based on the old 1984 model from "Reline".
Compared to the original, a number of gameplay enhancements have been integrated. It is now possible to set up companies and interact with other users in a variety of ways. Espionage and sabotage add to the appeal and fun of the game, as does research into new and better products made from the raw material oil.
Oil Imperium is set in our time and in a world modelled on reality. At the start of the game, the player gives his company a name that is intended to indicate its future strength and power. There are a number of fields of action in which the player can work. These include the extraction of oil as a raw material, research into processing techniques for producing fuels, secret service activities to spy on competitors, stock trading and analysis of the raw material market, competition to take over scarce resources and, ultimately, sabotage.
The combination of production, refinement and the fight for scarce raw materials results in a multitude of individual game options. To increase the intensity of the game, the player can interact directly with other players by founding a corporation.
